There are a 100 reasons why fracking should not be done, and each reason, by itself, is reason enough to stop.
Tell Arapahoe County Why Sunlight-Long is NOT Approvable
Dear Arapahoe County Commissioners, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed State Sunlight Long well pad project and to ask that you deny this proposal. The project would place 32 fracking wells on a 35-acre site just 3,000 feet from the nearest homes, and too close to the Auror...

Cultivando started the continuous air monitoring program a few years ago with money from a settlement between Suncor and Colorado. The results of Cultivando's study show dramatic spikes in pollutants in short time frames, which are not observed by other monitoring programs in the state that only measure average exposures over time.
Air quality monitoring ends after 2 years in Commerce City
"I think it was shocking to us that they’ve had this information and had done very little about it, relatively," said Olga Gonzalez, Cultivando.

On Tuesday morning, the Arapahoe County Commissioners postponed their O&G moratorium hearing and vote until April 11th. Although we were hoping for a quick victory, this delay will allow for more community input. The Commissioners will consider all comments received between now and their April 11 meeting, so please let them know we are still engaged and passionate by sending them an email:

As you know, enacting an oil and gas moratorium would pause any new drilling permit submittals and allow the County time to develop amendments to further protect public health, safety, air, and water quality.
In case you need a reminder about this misguided project, the map below shows the vast extent where the underground drilling paths would go. The 12 red blocks are the proposed new well pads where 164 new wells would be drilled. Fracking would also occur under the open space land to the north and west of Aurora Reservoir, not to mention under homes and schools.

Southeast Aurora Community Forum - Lowry Ranch drill plan · Sierra Club Climate Action - Colorado
Oil & gas company Civitas wants to drill 164 new wells in the area east of the Aurora Reservoir as part of its Lowry Ranch plan. The plan's projected impacts to our water and air quality, health, homes, and wildlife habitat would far outweigh the measly incentives Civitas is offering, and the econom...

ACTION ALERT - Speak out to protect the health of Colorado communities and stop hazardous, climate disruptive residential drilling projects! The COGCC has approved over 1000 oil and gas wells over the past few months, disproportionately impacting communities of color in Aurora and Weld County. Tell your legislators you want them to fight residential drilling projects and phase out fracking permits by 2030.
