What will your clients need tomorrow that they don’t know to ask you for today?

Join me for Trend Tuesday Live as we reveal the 5 Megatrends Impacting Careers for 2027. We’ll talk about what’s changing and what it means for the advice we give clients.

How do people gain experience when employers want experienced candidates? What helps a client establish credibility when hiring teams are questioning who and what they can trust?

Bring what you’re seeing in your work. Comparing notes is how we start turning these trends into questions and strategies we can use with clients.

We’ll also share what’s coming at Career Jam, October 27–30, our annual event where career coaches, personal branding strategists, resume writers, and career services professionals compare notes on what’s changing and how to help clients respond.

The future of work is being shaped by much more than AI. Demographic shifts, infrastructure investment, energy needs, changing consumer demand, new technologies, and other forces are creating work even as other work changes or declines.

In this Trend Tuesday Live, we’ll dig into brand-new McKinsey and BLS projections, along with the latest labor market data, to explore where new work may come from over the next decade. We’ll also put those projections in context alongside recent predictions about widespread job loss.

Most importantly, we’ll look at what this means for career professionals: how can we help clients look beyond the headlines, recognize the forces reshaping their industries and roles, and spot where needs and opportunities are beginning to grow?

When clients see their industry changing, their role being disrupted, or new opportunities emerging, they assume they need to start over.

Career pros are there to help them slow down and consider ... where else could what I already know and do be valuable?

This is a timely topic, not just because of the changes happening in the workplace, but also because this will be our first Trend Tuesday Live in a new location ... on my personal LinkedIn page instead of the Career Thought Leaders page where we've been going live for almost 7 years

In this Trend Tuesday Live, we’ll look at new labor market data that challenges assumptions about career change and explore how career professionals can help clients identify the shortest credible bridge between where they are today and areas of growing need.

Join the conversation at 4 pm ET as we discuss how to help clients:
- Look beyond job titles to identify skills, knowledge, and experience they can carry forward
- Find adjacent industries, roles, and emerging areas where those capabilities have value
- Determine which skill gaps actually need to be filled, rather than assuming extensive retraining is necessary
- Build a practical path toward growing work without treating every career transition as a complete reinvention

We'll help you build a future-focused approach to career change that starts with the value clients already have and helps them see where it could take them next.

Plus, we'll share how you can build these skills in the Future-Focused Career Strategy Microcredential starting October 8

New research from McKinsey offers career professionals an important signal to watch: when a technology moves from invention and R&D into deployment, the employment opportunities around it can begin to expand.

In this Trend Tuesday Live, we'll look at McKinsey’s 2026 Technology Trends Outlook alongside the latest ManpowerGroup employment data to uncover what these trends could mean for career coaches, career counselors, workforce professionals, and the clients they serve.

Join in the discussion at 4:00 pm ET as we give you tools to...

- Look beyond predictions about the “fastest-growing jobs” to understand where new work may be emerging
- Recognize when technologies and industries are moving from development into deployment
- Identify the broader career ecosystems created as organizations need people to implement, operate, sell, support, maintain, and scale new technologies
- Find opportunities for clients whose skills are not technical or R&D-focused
- Use investment, hiring, and workforce data as signals rather than predictions
- Help clients connect existing skills and experience to areas of growing need

While we can't predict exactly which jobs will exist five or ten years from now, we can get better at recognizing the signals that show us where work is beginning to emerge.
