To honor the courage of those who came forward, Denver will remove Cesar Chavez’s name from our city park and holiday, and begin a community process to rename both.

But we won't let one man's sins stop us from honoring the movement. Denver will this year recognize March 31 as “Si Se Puede” Day, a phrase coined by United Farm Workers co‑founder Dolores Huerta to rally laborers.

The recent news is painful for many who saw Chavez as a symbol of justice. Denver is beginning the work to heal and move forward.
