The mission of the Center for New Directions is to develop academic programs and courses focused in the areas of politics and public policy with the purpose of developing the leadership capacities necessary to address changing public priorities for the 21st century within neighborhoods, communities, governmental jurisdictions and nonprofit entities.

New Directions has various paid student internships available for incoming students. We welcome anyone who is interested in politics, local governments and nonprofit work.

1. The Paid Student Internship Information session: We will provide information about the Best and Brightest Student Internship ($42,500 a year) which provides a student with an opportunity to work full time at a small local jurisdiction in Colorado for two years and student internships with community non-profit organizations ($7,000 scholarship) which provides a student with an opportunity to work 10-12 hours a week for two semesters.

Paid Student Internship for the local government and community organizations.

New Directions offers various paid student internships.

1. The Best and Brightest Student Internship: This internship provides students with a paid salary ( up to $42,500) for two years while pursuing an MA program at New Directions. This year, there will be 8 counties that will open the position for the year 2020. Come to the informational session, if you are interested in this student internship. The internship information session will take place on May 9th, Thursday, at 12:30 pm, at the Political Science Department Library ( #3206).

2. Community Organization Internship: New Directions' students can apply for a paid student internship position. Selected students will receive a scholarship of $7,000 for working for a community organization for two semesters ( Fall and Spring). This year, the internship is effective as of September, 2019 and anyone who is interested in a student internship should apply for the MA program in order to be eligible.
