Denver Economic Development & Opportunity, in partnership with The Fax Partnership and Mile High United Way, is now accepting applications for a round of funding for small businesses impacted by specified citywide construction projects. The areas eligible include:

East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Construction: East Colfax Ave from Roslyn Street to Yosemite Street for BRT construction occurring April 2026 – October 2026.

🎓 The Citywide Mentor Protégé program connects certified small businesses with larger firms and city agencies to build the skills to scale their business. Last month, we celebrated the graduation of the 2025-2026 cohort and their successful completion of the program.

👷‍♂️ One of our cohort protégés, Novus Construction, partnered with mentor McCarthy Building Companies, with a goal of strengthening its proposals and overall competitiveness. Their improved submissions paid off quickly: after participating in the program, Novus Construction successfully competed for and was awarded a $1 million contract with the City and County of Denver through a competitive bidding process.

Since the program’s inception, 384 subcontracts have been awarded through Mentor–Protégé partnerships, generating $172.5 million in subcontract value. These partnerships represent mentor and protégé firms from across the program’s cohorts who have gone on to work together to pursue and secure work on City contracts.

Denver Economic Development & Opportunity is announcing that 28 eligible small businesses have been approved for funding through the Business Impact Opportunity (BIO) Fund. View the list of grantees by using the link in our bio.

The most recent round of funding included eligible small businesses in the following areas:
• East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Construction: East Colfax Ave from Glencoe Street to Yosemite Street

In 2025-2026, the city has allocated $2.9M to support businesses impacted by city-funded construction BRT through the BIO Fund.

Applications for the final round of East Colfax BRT Construction funding will open October 13, 2026. Eligible small businesses located on East Colfax Avenue between Roslyn Street and Yosemite Street may apply.
