đ¨ SIREN TEST ALERT â TODAY AT 11 AM đ¨
Heads up, Denver! The Office of Emergency Management will conduct its annual live test of the cityâs outdoor warning sirens today at 11 AM. The sirens will sound and you may receive a test Wireless Emergency Alert on your phone. This is only a test.
đ WHAT YOUâLL HEAR:
All 86 sirens across the city (including DIA) will go offâthese are designed to alert people outdoors during emergencies.
â ď¸ WHY IT MATTERS:
As extreme weather becomes more unpredictable, sirens will now be used for more than just tornadoesâdestructive storms, flash floods, and other major hazards may also trigger alerts. During a real emergency, the sirens will sound for three minutes at a time. Depending on the type of hazard, the sirens may be repeated multiple times to ensure notification. Youâll also receive a Wireless Emergency Alert on your mobile phone when sirens go off during a real emergency.
đ WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HEAR A SIREN IN A REAL EVENT:
⢠Go inside immediately.
⢠Seek information via TV, radio, mobile alerts, or on X.
⢠Follow official instructions (shelter in place, evacuate, etc.).
⢠There is no âAll Clearâ sirenâalways look for follow-up info.
