The Next Day: Transitions, Change, and Moving Forward

Written by Melinda Gates
Narrated by Melinda Gates

During times of transition, we step out of our familiar surroundings and into a new landscape, a space that can be filled with possibility but also shadowed by uncertainty. The Next Day accompanies listeners through that space, offering guidance to anyone--young or old--who is navigating change, finding their bearings or trying to move forward when the ground beneath them is shifting. In this deeply personal audiobook, Melinda writes about the joyful upheaval of becoming a parent, the death of a close friend, her life after divorce and her departure from the Gates Foundation. Sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, the stories she tells illuminate universal lessons about loosening the bonds of perfectionism, helping friends through times of crisis, trusting your inner voice and more. Each one of us, no matter who we are or where we are in life, is headed toward a transition of our own. With her signature warmth and grace, Melinda empowers listeners to make the most of the space between an ending and a beginning and find the courage and confidence to embrace a new day.

High, Wide and Lonesome: Growing up on the Colorado Frontier

Written by Hal Borland
Narrated by Peter Lerman

In this memoir of a lost America, Hal Borland tells the story of his family’s migration to eastern Colorado as homesteaders at the turn of the twentieth century. On an unsettled and unwelcoming prairie landscape, the Borlands build a house, plant crops, and eke out a meager existence. While life is difficult--and self-reliance is necessary with no neighbors for miles--the experience brings the family close and binds them closer. Borland would grow up to study journalism and become an acclaimed nature writer, and it was these childhood years on the prairie that shaped the author’s heart and mind. Some violence. Commercial audiobook.

This Princess Kills Monsters

Written by Ry Herman
Narrated by Ry Herman

Someone wants to murder Princess Melilot. This is sadly normal. Melilot is sick of being ordered to go on dangerous quests by her domineering stepmother. Especially since she always winds up needing to be rescued by her more magically talented stepsisters. And now, she’s been commanded to marry a king she’s never met. When hideous spider-wolves attack her on the journey to meet her husband-to-be, she is once again rescued-but this time, by twelve eerily similar-looking masked huntsmen. If Melilot can’t unravel the mysteries and rescue herself from peril, kingdoms will fall. Worse, she could end up married to someone she doesn’t love. Unrated. Fantasy Fiction.
