Kicked off 2026 and closed out maternity leave by working a live event on the very first Monday of the year! served up all the vibes as guests dined, chatted, and put in their request for a personalized luggage tag hot foiled by yours truly.

These were beautiful, high quality leather luggage tags from my favorite leather vendor who I’ve been working with since 2020, and their green + gold combo was too pretty!
 
My favorite comment at every event is “you’re doing this freehand?!” and my favorite thing to do is let guests peel off the foil to reveal their name underneath if they stay to watch me work. This was the first event where we DIDN’T have someone ask for a tag after we packed up lol!

My first introduction to calligraphy was through Chinese calligraphy, which I learned as a child in Chinese school. I never thought that decades later I’d have the chance to write Chinese calligraphy live at a event! This Lunar New Year celebration was beautifully designed by , and I loved sharing a bit about Chinese calligraphy with the guests. 

The character I’m writing, 福 (fú), means good fortune. It’s Lunar New Year tradition to hang one on your door to usher in luck for the coming year. Each of the guests got their own 福 to take home, and I did a giveaway for Year of the Horse calligraphy banners which were a hit!

I usually try to steer away from replicating fonts because if you wanted a font, you could have it perfectly printed, rather than having it uniquely hand lettered. We wanted K+D’s welcome sign to feel cohesive with their invitations, so I borrowed some flourishing inspiration from the font while still incorporating my signature calligraphy style. My favorite calligraphy projects are the ones where I get to write on unique surfaces, so this setup we created for the Q***r AF Engagement Party was an absolute dream!

For this collab with , we envisioned a couple bringing together their backgrounds growing up in Montana and California, which meant that I got to write on mini-jugs, leather, and scallop shells for their es**rt wall and place cards 🤩

There’s something special about having the ability to letter on surfaces that you can’t easily print on… that makes it tempting to write on just about anything and everything 🤭
