Join us for a pop-up community food give this THURSDAY 10/22 from 11am - 1pm! 💚

We’ll be in the parking lot at 5400 W Cedar Ave Lakewood CO 80226. Come shop and fill your fridge with fresh produce, baked goods, deli foods, and more!

Please consider supporting Joy’s with a donation either in-person at the food bank, or through our website. Any amount helps! We’re a small grassroots organization that works hard to bring food resources to our community, and we rely on donations to continue that work.

We are so sorry everyone!!!
Our planned larger location changing so quickly really threw us and is throwing us for a loop!

We are having a public walk up Food Give at Ascend Recovery on Thursday from 11-1pm.
We will announce other times you can make appointments soon on other days of the week.
We are shifting models super fast as the weather comes and we don't have a bigger sheltered location.

We are doing our best and we look forward to seeing the neighbors on Thursday!

Today we had to do an emergency volunteer day given the circumstances and the communication wasn't on point. We are sorry for anyone who made the trip to Ascend today!

Volunteers, the times in the coming days are important and we need ya! There are tons of open shifts and We would love help on Tuesday and Weds this week. It's super mellow and fun- sign up if you can!

Thursday, October 8, 2026 pop-up Food Bank at Denver Indian Center is canceled . So his Kitchen in the Denver Indian center will not be moving forward with food distribution partnerships. Please see our website joyskitchen.org for pop-up locations including Monday’s food give! We look forward to seeing you soon and we are sorry for the inconvenience.

**💛 A Note on Consent at Joy’s Kitchen 💛**

At Joy’s Kitchen, consent is at the heart of everything we do. Our neighbors deserve to receive food with dignity and privacy.

**That’s why Meta glasses, smart glasses, and any AI or recording eyewear are not allowed while volunteering, ever.** Wearing an outward-facing recording device puts our sensitive and vulnerable guests at risk. Some of the spaces we serve in are protected by health privacy laws like HIPAA, and recording there can violate those protections. Above all, recording people without their knowledge is a non-consensual practice we do not stand behind.

From time to time, Joy’s Kitchen staff and leaders capture photos or video to share our work. When we do, our community is informed and consent is given beforehand. We ask everyone else, including volunteers and visitors, to refrain from recording.

No photos, video, or audio of anyone without their clear, express permission. Please leave recording devices at home.

!!! We did it, Joy family! New more mobile model, this week's volunteer shifts, and how you can help !!!

Hi Joy family,

Well, it's here! It's the end of the month, and we have fed our last families at D3. Now we're heading to the Ascend Recovery Solutions to plant a little Joy and start popping up with partner locations that need some Joy infussion!

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS THIS WEEK

We'd love extra hands as we shift and settle in:

• Wednesday – Final move day. Lots of little stuff: stocking shelves and clearing out the last small pieces.

• Thursday – Our first day together at the Denver Indian Center, in the gymnasium. We'll be sorting and storing, and maybe hosting a market if things go smoothly.

• Friday – Regular volunteer shifts at the Denver Indian Center.

Please be patient with us while we set the new schedule. When you sign up, you'll get a text from Kathy confirming the location and meeting details for our new spaces.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

There's one thing that's been weighing on us: we have not met our basic financial goals, and without them we can't keep our staff. There are plenty of ways to help as we settle in, but giving is the best way to help right now. Please consider a one time donation to help immediately, a reoccuring donation for stability or your end-of-year giving destination of good that situates us for 2027.

We've worked hard these last 60 days to set our program up for long-term success. Now we need you to step in. We can't wait for our volunteer families to have space to gather again, and for our guest families to be seen, fed, and welcomed into community in a place that's safe and stable.

What a pleasure to sit down with Rob this morning and start the week off with him sharing Joy. His project is really beautiful and I hope you all take the time to learn about it.

Today is a big day for Joyce’s kitchen as we prepared to move for the three next days into our new programming. We’re excited for this new experiment of joy with you all and can’t wait to serve alongside of you!!
