We’re showing what leadership looks like by upgrading city buildings. After completing energy audits across 70 city-owned buildings, the City and County of Denver is now investing more than $5 million in upgrades to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon pollution, and modernize public facilities.

Projects include lighting upgrades, improvements, and building system updates at facilities across the city, from fire stations and shelters to county offices. This work helps move Denver closer to its goals, while making public buildings more efficient and cost-effective for the community.

“We think we are standing in what can be the future of energy in Denver, which is both pollution free and affordable.” - Mayor
Mike Johnston

Denver’s new thermal energy network pilot will use geothermal energy, water loops, and even heat recovered from wastewater to help cut pollution from downtown buildings and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

The project could become a national model for how cities modernize aging infrastructure while cutting emissions and lowering long-term energy costs. ⚡️

Kate and Suzi opened Park Hill Treasures because they wanted to stay rooted in their neighborhood and close to other vintage shops along East Colfax.

Their shop brings together over 60 vendors offering curated vintage and clothing, décor, furniture, and jewelry—giving quality items a second life instead of ending up in landfills. They also manage estate sales and auctions that help families re-home personal items, boosting the local while promoting a more , low-waste model of shopping.

Park Hill Treasures has been open for five holiday seasons and just had its strongest December yet, proving that sustainable, community-centered shopping is good business.

Circular music economies are very rock n’ roll. 😎

As proven at Colfax Guitar Shop in Denver, where folks can bring unused, broken, or donated guitars that in turn get refurbished and sold to customers. Because pre-loved, secondhand strings are just as good—and maybe even cooler?—than new ones. 🎸

Colfax Guitar Shop is one of many businesses listed as a repair shop in our Reuse Business Directory, a resource that highlights shops where you can repair, rent, or buy used.
