John "Thunderbird Man" Emhoolah, Jr. Branch Library is part of the Denver Public Library Located in the heart of Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe.

Byers is a beautiful Historic Branch Library built in 1918 and one of the 26 branches of the Denver Public Library System. Architect: Varian and Varian, 1918

We invite you to come and view the 20-foot mural painted by Denver artist Carlota EspinoZa titled Pasado, Presente, Futuro. Also, Also, don't forget to check out our collection, free programs, architect and learn the history of the building.

Today marks the five-year anniversary of the passing of our namesake, John “Thunderbird Man” Emhoolah Jr. We honor his memory and significant contributions, including his service on the National Native American Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee and the American Indian Higher Education Consortium in Denver.

We encourage you to visit the branch to learn more about John Emhoolah Jr., his work and the Native American community.

Join us next week for our monthly Tardes Creativas program on April 14 at 4:30 pm! This month we will explore the art of Guatemalan and Mayan weaving and how clothing is used by people in Guatemala to identify their heritage.

Our monthly Spanish-led program is in partnership with Museo de Las Americas. It is intended for all ages.
