Safe Summer Kickoff on Get Outdoors Day!
Southwest Denver Coalition, Denver Parks & Recreation, District 3 City Councilwoman Jamie Torres Office & My Outdoor Colorado is joining forces to host 2026 Safe Summer Kickoff on Get Outdoors Day on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10 AM – 3 PM at Garfield Lake Park!
This FREE, family-friendly event promotes a safe summer, access to healthy and safe outdoor spaces, supports under-resourced communities and celebrates nature exploration.

Rock Climbing, Biking, & Kayaking
Navigation & Nature Exploration
Music & Entertainment
Activities for all ages!

The Summer of Adventure program provides youth, of all ages and abilities, with opportunities to practice academic growth and social emotional skills by making something, trying something, and using books, ebooks, and audiobooks to practice literary development and have fun.
Summer of Adventure is how DPL celebrates the learning young people do AND how we encourage youth to explore new opportunities to learn and grow.
Summer of Adventure runs from June 1 - August 10.

June 1: First day to register / Maker Gallery opens
June 2: First day to pick up prizes
July 9: Shark Week Movie Night @ Central
August 8: DAY AT THE ZOO!
August 10: Last day for prizes

2026 Summer of Adventure Theme:
150th Anniversary of Colorado Statehood! Featuring local history, local art and artists, and local places.

How It Works:
Participants sign up at any library location to get a Registration Prize and Adventure Guide.
At Completion participants will receive:
SOA Mini Tote bag
Free Ticket to the DZCA valid through Dec. 31, 2026
*All Completors age 3+ receive: 2 tickets (1 youth + 1 caregiver)
*All Completors 2 and under receive: 1 free ticket for their adult (youth 3 and under get into the DZCA for free)
