PUBLIC NOTICE: BACKYARD BURN BAN LIFTED OCTOBER 15

The Depoe Bay Fire District in coordination with the Lincoln County Fire Defense Board and Oregon Department of Forestry will officially declare the end of the 2026 wildfire season on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Effective October 15: Backyard debris burning is again permitted throughout Lincoln County. Residents should contact their local fire agency before burning to confirm requirements and permit needs. Burn registration through the Before You Burn system is strongly encouraged.

The Depoe Bay Fire District is encouraging our residence to register with the "Before You Burn" website and create your account before burning. To register visitt www.beforeyouburn.net

⚠️ Not all fire agencies participate in the Before You Burn program. Always verify local regulations before burning.

Escaped fires can result in fines and financial responsibility for firefighting costs.

Please burn responsibly and help keep the residents in the Depoe Bay Fire District and Lincoln County safe.

It is hard to believe that 25 years have passed since the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Today, the Depoe Bay Fire District honors the 2,977 lives lost that day, as well as the courageous first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice—and those who have since lost their lives as a result of the events of 9/11.

We remember their courage, sacrifice, and service.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸

🚒 Lincoln County Firefighters Are Home! 🚒

The Depoe Bay Fire District and the Lincoln County Fire Defense Board are pleased to announce that all Lincoln County Fire Task Force resources have safely returned home from both the Rowe Creek Complex Fire and the Wrights Creek Fire.

Now it’s time for our firefighters to get some much-needed rest while our crews focus on maintenance, repairs, and cleaning our apparatus—making sure everything is ready for the next request for assistance from the State of Oregon.

We could not be more proud of the dedication, commitment, and professionalism demonstrated by our firefighters as they answered the call to help protect communities across Oregon. We are equally grateful to the families who hold down the fort at home while their loved ones are away serving others. Their support and sacrifice make this work possible.

Please join us in giving a BIG shout-out to our firefighters and their families for their selfless commitment to helping others when they are needed most. ❤️‍🔥

🔥 A reminder: We are only halfway through this year’s wildfire season. Please continue to use caution, remain wildfire-aware, and stay informed about conditions and updates in and around our community.

Just a glimpse of the important work our Lincoln County firefighters are doing while deployed across Oregon. We are incredibly proud of our Depoe Bay Fire District firefighters who have answered the call to assist communities impacted by wildfire—and equally proud of those here at home who continue to cover shifts and ensure our community remains protected.

This has already been a very challenging fire season, and it takes the commitment of everyone—those deployed, those covering at home, and the families supporting them—to make these efforts possible.

Thank you to all of our firefighters for your continued dedication, professionalism, and service. Stay safe out there.

The Depoe Bay Fire District and Lincoln County Fire Defense Board extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers of Jason Ensign, who tragically lost his life while supporting firefighting operations on the Wrights Spring Fire.

Jason was working alongside firefighters and equipment operators in extremely difficult and rapidly changing conditions when this tragedy occurred. His service and sacrifice in support of protecting others will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with Jason’s loved ones, his colleagues at Green Diamond Timber Resource Company, and all of the firefighters, equipment operators, and emergency personnel affected by this loss.

Rest easy, Jason.

After a brief period with all of our deployed firefighters back home, Lincoln County has once again been called upon to assist our fellow Oregonians.

The Lincoln County Fire Defense Board has fulfilled requests for two separate Task Forces, which are deploying to two different wildfire incidents in Oregon. These deployments represent Lincoln County’s fifth and sixth mobilizations of the 2026 fire season.

It is important to recognize that we are still relatively early in the fire season, yet Lincoln County fire agencies have already experienced an unprecedented level of requests for statewide assistance. The continued willingness of our local fire departments and districts—and, most importantly, our firefighters—to step forward when communities across Oregon need help speaks volumes about the strength and professionalism of our fire service.

I also want to reassure our elected officials, fire service leaders, and communities that these deployments are carefully coordinated. Lincoln County remains appropriately staffed and fully capable of providing emergency response and fire protection to our local communities while these resources are deployed. Maintaining adequate local coverage remains a priority with every deployment decision.

All of Depoe Bay Fire District and Lincoln County Fire resources have returned home from multiple wildfire deployments. Depoe Bay Fire District is proud of our firefighters and the work they have done both at home and abroad. Now is a time to rest, reset, and restore equipment before the next round of deployments. 2026 has already proven to be a very busy and challenging wildfire season.
