The vote was 4 read and liked it, 3 read it and was ambivalent, 3 read it and disliked it, and 0 did not read it.

For anyone not yet aware of this, the March 24 meeting of the Mystery Book Club is cancelled. We hope to see you in April!

Our August meeting on Tuesday was a comparative discussion of two books in the same genre from from different eras: Erle Stanley Gardner's The Case of the Horrified Heirs ( a Perry Mason mystery) and Michael Connelly's The Gods of Guilt, the fifth of his Lincoln Lawyer books. While the group was small, with just five of us, the discussion was lively.

Members of the book club will be attending this event at the Franklin Avenue Branch of the Public Library of Des Moines, so there will be no club meeting at Beaverdale Books in October. The next club meeting at the bookstore will be in November.

The May meeting of the club will be held next Tuesday, May 26 at 7 pm at Beaverdale Books. We will be discussing William Kent Krueger's Ordinary Grace.

The March meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at 7 pm at Beaverdale Books. The reading selection is Sidney Chambers and the Shadow of Death by James Runcie. This book is the basis for the current Granchester Mysteries series on PBS.
