Did you know that farmworkers face some of the highest rates of heat-related illness of any workers in the country? They work outside in extreme heat, doing physically demanding work, often in rural communities far from medical care. And access to something as basic as cold water throughout the day isn't always a given. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are serious, and in the worst cases, fatal. That's not something we're willing to accept.

This June, Proteus, Inc.'s Water for Farmworkers campaign is working to change that, one Hydro Flask at a time.

Working outdoors means extra protection matters ☀️

On National Sunscreen Day, Proteus reminds farmworkers and outdoor workers to protect their skin every day. Sun exposure can lead to serious health risks, but simple steps like sunscreen, long sleeves, and shade can help prevent them.

Through our health and safety trainings, we provide the tools and information needed to stay safe on the job. We also distribute essential items like sunscreen to help workers protect themselves in the field.

💛 Want to make a difference? We accept donations of new, unopened sunscreen that can be shared with farmworkers during these trainings.

From student to entrepreneur to award winner. 🚀💼

Jacob first learned about Proteus and the National Farmworker Jobs Program through a college professor, and that introduction changed everything. While enrolled, he gained more than tuition support. He found guidance and encouragement in Career Coach, Lynne, who supported him every step of the way.

After graduation, Jacob stepped confidently into the workforce, quickly moved into full-time work, and while also building his own business.

Today, he is rocking it, working full-time at Mohlrfeld Electric and growing his business! He was recently named Winner of Micro Business of the Year for Southeast Iowa at just 24 years old. 🏆

We are proud to celebrate his journey and everything he has accomplished. 💙

When the temperature climbs, farmworkers don't get to go inside. They stay in the fields, in the heat, doing the work that puts food on all of our tables. And for many of them, access to something as simple as cold water isn't guaranteed. That's why Proteus, Inc. created the Water for Farmworkers campaign. Every June, we raise money to provide Hydro Flasks to farmworkers in our communities, so they have access to cold, clean water throughout their workday. It sounds like a small thing. Better health starts with better access to food. 🌱🍎

Through PASO, Proteus delivers fresh fruits and vegetables directly to agricultural workers and their families, especially those managing chronic conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.

Participants receive a cooler of produce every two weeks, shipped in temperature-controlled packaging with text updates along the way.

Last year, 63% of participants saw improvements in measured health outcomes. 💙🚜
