I appreciated the opportunity to deliver the morning keynote at the State Cybersecurity Conference hosted by Iowa State University and join leaders from across our state who are working to keep our communities safe.

In Iowa, precinct election officials are required by law to initial each ballot before handing it to a voter. These initials are a routine part of the voting process and do not identify you or cause your ballot to be rejected.

If your ballot has election officials’ initials on it, your ballot is valid and will be counted. There is no need to request a new ballot. Iowa’s election process includes safeguards at every step, and this is one of them. When you have questions about voting, turn to your trusted election officials for accurate information.

I was proud to have joined members of our team last night to help fight hunger alongside Meals from the Heartland and the World Food Prize Foundation.
Together, volunteers broke a Guiness Word record, packaging more than 600,000 meals in just one hour. Half will stay here in Iowa to help feed children and families, with the rest reaching people around the world.
