Our 4th graders have been hard at work creating Public Service Announcements (PSAs) as part of Module 4 in EL Education literacy curriculum.
Students researched important topics, developed messages, and designed displays to help educate and inspire others throughout our school. We love seeing their creativity, critical thinking, and leadership shine as they use their voices to make a difference.
Be sure to check out the PSAs posted around the building!

We did not receive a new food order today in the pantry due to the holiday this week. We will be open normal hours (3pm-4pm) but do not have any cold food and shelf options are limited. We will be open next week (Thursday, June 4th) from 3pm-4pm!

Our 3rd graders had an amazing day exploring at Jester Park! Students enjoyed hiking through the woods, discovering nature, and participating in a pond scavenger hunt led by naturalists from Polk County Conservation. It was a beautiful day full of hands-on learning and adventure that connected perfectly to our EL literacy curriculum unit focused on water!π§πΏβοΈ

Last week students picked out a brand-new book to kick off summer reading! πβοΈ They were excited to shop new titles and get reading.
Students are encouraged to complete a book report and return it by June 1st for a chance to win a pizza party for their classroom next year! π
Donβt forget to visit the Des Moines Public Library and sign up for summer reading programs to keep those reading skills strong all summer long!

Our first graders had a fantastic field trip Friday at Jester Park in Granger! πΏπ¦
This hands-on learning experience was a nice extension of the literacy curriculum theyβve been studying about birds. Students enjoyed bird watching, went on a nature hike, completed a scavenger hunt, and even simulated being birds by building nests using only a "beak" by using a clothes pin to collect foilage.
It was a fun-filled day of exploration, and learning in nature. Thank you to Jester Park & Polk County Conservation for such a great experience for our students!
