Thank you to Ryan Sawyer, Arick Sears and the MidAmerican Energy Company Team for hosting the Q2 Deputy Meeting at their Training Center in Adel, Iowa. The attendees were able to discuss the 2026 legislative session with Dustin Miller and Brad Epperly from CWL Group, and workforce pipeline initiatives with Noelle Nelson from Talent Collective DSM.

Attendees also had the opportunity to tour the training facility that hosts a variety of training opportunities for the next generation of MidAmerican employees.

Iowa continues to be challenged by a population that is growing at levels below the national average and among the lowest levels in the Midwest. Longterm prosperity will continue to be constrained by a lack of people to fill jobs. Growing Iowa’s overall population will be critical to building a talent pipeline and expanding state revenues.

Recruitment and retention efforts could be bolstered by changes in federal immigration policy, as well as highlighting the significant advantages Iowa provides its citizens over other states including safe communities, high quality K-12 educational systems, low cost of living, and affordable housing.
