We wanted to share this post. Good info for all
While playing in the mud can be fun, proper trail use is important to take into consideration - especially in Iowa. Higher than normal temperatures invite us to spend the day outside, but warmer days and freezing nights have wreaked havoc on our dirt trails. Riding or hiking on muddy trails can ruin them. It leaves ruts, contributes to erosion, and creates an unrideable, hard-to-fix trail surface requiring hours of labor to correct. If you are leaving a visible rut or deep footprints, the trail is too muddy to use.
Help us spread awareness and encourage everyone to be considerate trail users. We want all to enjoy the outdoors! [Photo by Pingora Outdoors at Glow Wild. No trails were harmed in the making of this photo. 😄]

National Trails day was today and I helped do trail work at Jester Park on the hickory ridge trail. We had about 50 folks and placed several water bars along the trail.
It was a great day to be working on a shaded trail. The event was a group effort with REI , INHF, and Polk County Conservation along with all the volunteers. They had tacos and music for us afterwards.
