School is delayed by two hours on Friday, Oct. 16 for the following schools:

Edmunds Elementary
Greenwood Elementary
Harding Middle School
Hanawalt Elementary
Hillis Elementary
Hoover High School
Hubbell Elementary
Madison Elementary
Meredith Middle School
Merrill Middle School
Oak Park Elementary
Perkins Elementary
Phillips Elementary
Pleasant Hill Elementary
Windsor Elementary

Metronet has reported a large-scale outage impacting phone service, internet, and some security systems at these buildings.

A two-hour delay means:
- classes will begin two hours late
- transportation will be delayed two hours
- breakfast and lunch will still be served
- school will dismiss at the normal time

Herbert Hoover High School - Des Moines welcomed students from Meredith Middle School and Moore, Monroe, Samuelson, and Hillis elementary schools to the annual homecoming pep assembly to watch the crowning of their homecoming court, cheer for the spirit stick, and join in other fun and games.

Moore Elementary and the Hoover Sophomore class cheered loudest to win the spirit stick. Seniors Deon Edwards-Johnson and Ximena Davila-Meza were named Homecoming King and Queen!
