The City of Des Moines wasted no time in raising property tax rates after the recent failure to enact a local option sales tax.
The city wants more of your money, any way they can get it.
Des Moines increases property tax after sales tax fails Efforts to make downtown streets safer for cyclists and rivers more attractive for reaction could be put on hold.

"Mr. Paul pressed for the repeal vote, in a strange bedfellows alliance with Senator Tim Kaine, the Virginia Democrat who was his party’s vice-presidential nominee last year. But the effort failed when senators voted 61 to 36 to set the measure aside, rather than include it in the annual defense policy bill that senators are considering this week."
