Subject:
Issues surrounding the closure of Liberian/Minnesota Consulate.

After hours of discussion with the Counsel General(Hon. Jackson George) of the Liberian Consulate in Minnesota, the leadership of the LAIA has gathered that Mr. George has confirmed that, indeed, he did receive a letter from Monrovia, informing him that all operations from the Minnesota Consulate will be shot down and turn over to the original office(Liberian Embassy) in Washington DC.
Upon receiving and digesting the sad information, Mr. George thought it wise to call a mass community meeting of Liberians to break the news to them. With the huge turnout and frustration on the faces of Liberians in Minnesota, they all quickly organized themselves in protest against Monrovia's decision and in fact, wrote the Foreign Ministry.
With a population of over 50 thousand liberians in Minnesota alone, our government thought to listen.
Now, the government of Liberia is putting together a delegation to come and investigate the matter and to make subsequent recommendations to the President of Liberia.
Meanwhile, all document activities continue at the Liberian Consulate in Minnesota until a decision from the Liberian government and Liberians in the diaspora, specifically the MidWest, is reached.
Once again, many thanks to the President and VP of the Liberian Association of Iowa for the step taken.

Please keep monitoring as the situation unravels.

Thanks again for your dedication and commitment aimed at making our people and country a priority.

News of a Potential Closure of the Liberian/Minnesota Consulate.

Good morning to all.

With the growing wave of concern by Liberians in the diaspora over the news of a potential closure of the Liberian/Minnesota Consulate, the Leadership of the LAIA is most concern and is asserting every effort to gather first hand information from the Counsel General, there at the Consulate in Minnesota.

Having said that, we are urging our Citizens to please remain calm as we will definitely abreast you with prevailing information.

The President and Vice of the LAIA are currently reaching out, and we await a response.
We also want to say thanks for the concern and constant follow-up on this matter as it is very important to all of us, most especially the MidWest.
