Last week, the Treasurer’s Office hosted Bring Your Child to Work Day. We had 35 students join us for a fun morning of learning!

The kids got a behind-the-scenes look at how the county works and what their parents do every day. We also had some very special guests: Supervisor Altringer and the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Iowa.

Other highlights included a license plate craft and a dance party for the little ones, while the older students participated in a vehicle titling simulation to get a taste of "adulting"! The morning ended with all children getting the chance to job shadow their parent or family member.

The Treasurer's Office reminds citizens to title vehicles in their county of residence. Doing so keeps your dollars right here, supporting critical resources.

Tell us about your home life and background:
I have a wife - Cassie, son - Collin (3) , cat - Bella, and dog - Winnie.
I have been in Ankeny my whole life. I am currently finishing my Associates Degree for Business at DMACC.

What do you do in your free time?
Hang out with my family and friends, homework, golf, and a bowling league. Collin is currently in indoor soccer so we practice in the back yard.

What is your favorite food?
Sushi. I don’t have a preferred style of roll. I like to try a different one every time.

Favorite sports team?
Green Bay Packers – football. St. Louis Cardinals – Baseball. I proposed to my wife at Busch Stadium, Cassie is crazier about them than I am.

Any hidden talents?
I can play the piano.

What are you passionate about?
I am competitive so I am passionate about winning. I am in a bowling league and trash talk my friends on how my average is higher than theirs. When I golf, I talk a lot of trash even though I’m terrible. This year will be different though because I got some new clubs, and that will fix all of my problems.

What is your favorite Treasurer’s Office tradition or event?
Who doesn’t love a food day?! I also like the FEC Stars that we do every November.

What is the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
Always try to grow. That could be learning a new skill, taking on different responsibilities, teaching others, or just challenging yourself in a new way. Growth is a cornerstone of reaching your goals, so continue to push forward through all the challenges life throws at you.

What do you enjoy most about the team you’re on at work?
I enjoy all the individuals that I get to work with and help every day. Plus, everyone one knows the tax team is the best team :D
