At the end of day 40, Jesus Christ and his disciples went to Mount Olivet where Christ then ascended to heaven to take his seat at the right hand of God. The ascension signifies that Christ completed his work on Earth and is a reminder to us today to be a light in the world by living out our faith.

while we wait in expectation
for the new heaven and the new earth you promise
