There is no charge, but viewers can make an optional donation to support VIP – which has been serving at-risk youngsters and their families for 40 years. Making space for children we know need a safe place outside of their home. I would like to thank the parents who allowed us to give their children a home away from home. Support VIP as we support the kids who need your attention now more than any other time.

Everyday that you support VIP, you help keep the doors open to allow someone to be there for the 143 children, their siblings and their families to have someplace to call for resources, mental support, or just someone to be there to answer. Your donation of as little as $10 can make sure a child has a place to turn to when parents think they need outside support. As we celebrate our 40th year – and the tremendous difference mentoring has made in so many young lives – is has been necessary to re-focus much of our mission. With schools closed and gatherings limited, we have had to visit our children at their homes, outside and socially distanced. We have also turned to online mentoring to maintain the connections so valuable to young people. And we’ve even started in-student hubs at the Durfee Innovation Society, where we are currently able to meet with small groups of children. During the days ahead, VIP is in need of:
• More online mentors who can devote an hour or so each week to help counsel young people, and also to provide support with schoolwork.
• Additional financial support because some of our traditional sources of income aren't as certain as they’ve been. Even a $10 donation will help.

These are challenging times for VIP Mentoring. Not only must we approach mentoring, counseling and tutoring in new and different ways – but our traditional sources of income aren’t as certain as they’ve been in the past. Please consider a donation to VIP. Even $10 helps us continue our work with VIP children – more important today than ever before! Donating online is secure and simple. The past few months have been challenging for VIP Mentoring. The pandemic crisis has disrupted educational stability for our young people – and has also meant we’ve shifted our focus to online mentoring. These challenges will continue.
Please support our annual “Coaches for Kids” Tailgate via ZOOM – on Wednesday, December 16, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
During the days ahead, we’re counting on our supporters to help VIP secure:
• More online mentors to devote an hour or so a week to mentor young people, and also provide support with schoolwork.
• Additional financial support because some of our traditional sources of income aren't as certain as they’ve been.
Look for more info during the next couple days. For questions contact Kimberly Vann at [email protected] or 313 964-1110.
