Greater Detroit Realtist Association is a chapter of NAREB. NAREB was founded in 1947 out of a need to secure equal housing opportunities for all people!
The Greater Detroit Realtist Association (GDRA) is a local chapter of The National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB). NAREB was formed July 29, 1947, making it the oldest minority trade association in America. NAREB was founded by twelve individuals, one woman and eleven men from seven states, across the United States. Four of those individuals were from Detroit. NAREB held its first conv
ention at the Convention Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., on July 19–20, 1948. NAREB was established by African-American real estate professionals as an alternative for African-Americans who were excluded from the National Association of Realtors. NAREB members are called Realtist and represent all professional disciplines within the real estate industry including residential and commercial real estate agents and brokers, loan officers, mortgage brokers, title companies, appraisers, insurance agents, and developers. Realtists promote the highest standards of professional integrity and follow a strict code of real estate industry ethics. Each local chapter continually accepts new members. When you become a member of GDRA you are automatically a member of NAREB.
