We are devastated to learn of the targeted shooting against the Muslim community in San Diego. Our hearts go out to the families of those who were killed and injured, as well as the entire Muslim community. Islamophobic and racially motivated violence continues to rise, fueled by the hateful rhetoric pushed by white supremacists who have been emboldened and platformed under this administration. This division has not only fractured our country, but has also made marginalized communities feel increasingly unsafe and targeted.

Every person — from those worshipping at mosques to students on college campuses — deserves to live in safe communities free from violence. We stand with our Muslim neighbors and will continue working together toward a shared future rooted in peace, justice, and freedom from hate.

The Islamic Center of San Diego has established the Official ICSD Victim & Family Support Fund to support individuals and families impacted by the tragic shooting incident at the ICSD masjid campus.

This fund will help provide direct assistance and recovery support for those affected during this extremely difficult time.

ICSD is managing this effort directly to help ensure transparency, accountability, and coordinated support for impacted families and community needs connected to this incident.

We respectfully ask community members not to create unofficial fundraising campaigns and to rely only on official ICSD communication channels for verified donation information.

This May Day, Black movement continues to center workers over the rich and people over profits. Together we’re building a worker-powered future: one where all of us can thrive and flourish.

Our wages are shrinking while the costs of housing, food, gas and utilities are skyrocketing. While we struggle, the government is wasting our tax dollars on pointless cruel wars we never asked for and on mass deployments of masked ICE agents to terrorize our friends and neighbors.

It is time for us to redirect our economy away from billionaires and corporate leaders’ pockets and back into bettering the lives of all working people.

On May Day, let’s build spaces for people to come together, connect, and be in community. This energy is intentional and grounded, and is necessary in our resistance against this growing fascist movement.

We demand peace and safety for Black people and all people. We demand an economy built on care for our families, neighbors, and communities, instead of being built on our exploitation. Black working-class communities have been at the forefront of countless labor struggles.
