A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our annual WSU Summer Physics Picnic this past Monday! Especially to Professor Cinabro, Professor Putschke, Professor Hoffmann, Professor Paz, Professor Kelly (and Gibbs!) for their attendance and contributions.

It was a great evening with some delicious food (thanks to grillmasters Nahida and Bilal, and to all of you who brought a dish/item to share!), conversations, and a friendly game of volleyball. We were packed up in record time with everyone working as a team to bring the picnic inside as the rain and wind abruptly arrived. The fun continued despite the weather as a dance party emerged featuring swing dance and dabke (traditional Lebanese dancing).

The night was concluded atop the physics building roof with views of the Detroit-Windsor fireworks.

Thank you again to those who came--we hope you enjoyed yourself as much as we did!

And to those who couldn't make it, hopefully we'll see you at the next one!

Wayne State University SPS is back. First meeting of the semester is tomorrow (Wed. Feb 13th) from 4:15 to 5:15pm. Hope to see you there!

We hope to see you tomorrow, Thursday, November 15th at the 12th Annual Undergraduate Physics Research Conference. It will be taking place in Room 245 of the Physics Department, 666 Hancock, Detroit, MI.

(There will be food!)

This conference is an excellent opportunity for anyone to engage in the conversation around physics and learn from active members of the physics community. Additionally, this conference allows students to present their research in astronomy, biophysics, solid condensed matter physics, and high-energy physics. Prizes will be awarded for the best poster presentations.
