School began in August, and JRLA has been raising the standard ever since! 📈📈📈
Here’s a look at the wins we’re celebrating:
🏆 Our Class of 2027 earned the highest SAT score among open enrollment Detroit high schools.
🏫 We announced our middle school opening with fifth grade in SY2027–28 and a future high school campus donated by Henry Ford Health .
🙌 More than 450 scholars enrolled, with over 150 prospective scholars on our waitlist.
📈 A 96.2% attendance average during our first week and 94.50% year to date ADA as of October 8.
🎓 More than 20% of our seniors completed their FAFSA before October 1, taking another step toward their futures.
💻 Seniors received free MacBooks and access to discounted WiFi.
🎮 Our e-sports team is taking off!
💰 Bruce Smith’s Voltava contributed $50,000 to support our Detroit scholars.
🚙 Scholars explored new possibilities through experiences with Jeep , Ferris State University , the Black College Expo and more!
📰 Hour Detroit Magazine highlighted JRLA’s growing impact.
🫱🏽🫲🏾 Participation in our Forgotten Harvest distributions doubled, so we doubled the food to meet our community’s needs.
💙 JRLA Alumni returned to share their progress, and we welcomed teachers and staff from Vandenberg Elementary.
Behind every win are scholars putting in the work, families showing up, staff pouring into our community and partners investing in what comes next.
