Health starts where we live, work, learn, and grow.

Today, Mayor Sheffield and the Detroit Health Department launched the city’s first Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan, shaped by feedback from more than 6,000 Detroiters across every district.

The plan focuses on four key priorities: maternal and infant health, access to healthy food, access to healthcare, and reducing chronic conditions.

Together, we’re building healthier neighborhoods, advancing equity, and creating a Detroit where every resident has the opportunity to rise healthier and rise higher.

Detroit’s future was shaped by Detroiters.

More than 8,000 residents shared their ideas, priorities, and vision for the city through the largest community engagement effort in Detroit’s history.

The result is the Rise Higher Detroit Community Framework, a roadmap focused on safer neighborhoods, affordable housing, economic opportunity, youth investment, reliable city services, and a government that listens.

This framework reflects what is possible when community voices help guide government action.
