Mark Craighead, who was exonerated after spending more than seven years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit, filed a complaint Wednesday with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office over the illegal destruction of files in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
Craighead, who has become a leading advocate for the wrongfully convicted, is urging Dana Nessel’s office to investigate allegations that Mayor Mike Duggan destroyed the records while he served as prosecutor from 2001 to 2004.

Gerard is innocent and incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. Gerard suffers from severe Crohn’s disease and other health complications. His request to see a doctor took over 60 days as his condition worsened. It was only after the intervention of Rashida Tlaib’s office and the Ombudsman of Prison Medical Services in Lansing that Gerard was finally seen by a doctor. He lay in bed in extreme pain, unable to eat, suffering from diarrhea, and losing 25 pounds.
Gerard is being punished twice while being innocent. Join us in advocating for Gerard by sharing his story with as many people as possible. We seek for the Wayne County Integrity Unit to review the evidence of this case that was not submitted during the trial, which will exonerate Gerard from this injustice and allow him to receive appropriate health care.

Devastated... Furious...
"I think it was a travesty of Justice what happened to Mr. Williams. Anytime you execute an innocent person without any full-blown evidence, it's nothing short of murder" - Mark Craighead, Founder #32 Freedom Ain’t Free

“There are a lot of innocent people still in prison because of Barbara Simon. They deserve to be heard.” - Mark Craighead
1 wrongly incarcerated person is too many. How do you feel about 10? 100? 1000? 10’s of thousands? They may not ALL be there because of Barbara Simon, but the tactics she used to extract false confessions are well known.
