At Citizen Detroit’s “Power, Grit and Grace” event, the panel brought together voices from across the city’s civic life—Dr. Geneva Williams, Marseille Allen, Dominique Campbell, and Kayla Rice—each offering a different lane into what leadership can look like right now.

“If the celebration just stays for the moment and doesn’t become a movement, it doesn’t matter.”

From protecting Mary Sheffield’s leadership, to showing up in your own way, to understanding that not everyone has to run for office to make an impact—the conversation kept coming back to one thing:

There’s no excuse to sit this moment out.

Detroit doesn’t just need leaders.
It needs participation.

And according to the women on that stage, that starts now.

What would make your neighborhood work better for YOU? 🏘️

Fresh groceries nearby? A park where your kids can play? Affordable childcare? Better healthcare access?

Detroit wants to hear from YOU. The Rise Higher Survey is all about making sure your voice shapes what happens in your community (the everyday stuff that actually matters) and is a LEGIT way to directly influence Mayor Sheffield's policies for 2026.

Plus a little bonus: The first 50 people to complete the survey (using the link in the comments below) get a FREE bag of 313 Chips 🔥

👉🏿 What're you waiting for? TAKE THE SURVEY.

If Mayor Sheffield asked what your family actually needs to thrive, how would you answer?

That's what the Rise Higher Survey is about: giving Detroiters a chance to weigh in on things like childcare, housing stability, school supports, and help for families with kids.

Your answers help make sure Detroit voices are heard and counted as the new mayor sets priorities.

And as a small thank-you, the first 50 people to take and finish the survey (using the link below) will get a free bag of 313 Chips.

These are real lives lost under ICE custody or through federal enforcement in the last 28 days.

People died in detention. Some of their deaths were ruled homicides. Others suffered medical neglect. ALL raise urgent questions about how power is being used.

We cannot let these names be forgotten. 🕯 Honor them by acting for change.

🚨 Our rights are under threat. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻

ICE has been using force without accountability, even after two people were shot and killed by federal agents in Minneapolis, and another 7 have died in ICE custody.

📣 This affects all of us. This is a moment that calls for action.

👉 Here’s how you can help protect American democracy:

📞 Call your Senators (Gary Peters & Elissa Slotkin)
🗳️ Speak up for accountability
🤝 Support community groups protecting families
📲 Share this with your friends and neighbors

🗣 Get your voice ON THE RECORD! Mayor Mary Sheffield needs to hear from YOU.

The Rise Higher Survey asks about REAL issues (like housing, jobs, and safety). This is a GENUINE OPPORTUNITY to influence what the City prioritizes and how it shows up for residents.

If you've had thoughts about what Detroit needs next, THIS is how you get on the record and make your voice count. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
