Here's what your Commission approved on October 15. 🏛️

A big one for families: $15.4 million in public health funding for lead testing, childhood immunizations, hearing and vision screenings, safe sleep support and WIC services across Wayne County.

Commissioners also continued the Coats for Hope program (1,000 winter coats for neighbors in need), approved $1.4 million in public safety funding shared with the Sheriff and 15 local police departments, and put dollars toward road repairs in Canton and Huron Township plus park upgrades in Plymouth and Northville.

Join Wayne County Commissioner Melissa Daub and the Office of Bernard J. Youngblood, Wayne County Register of Deeds for a Mortgage & Deed Fraud Town Hall on Tuesday, September 29 from 3-4pm at the Plymouth District Library.

Deed fraud is a growing crime wave that occurs when someone forges the rightful owner’s name on a document to transfer any interest in real estate. Mortgage fraud occurs when someone obtains money from a mortgage company by misrepresenting any material fact in the process of applying for a mortgage.

The Greening of Detroit will be holding a FREE Tree Giveaway event on Saturday, October 10 at 10 AM at 10500 Lyndon Street in Detroit (Adams Butzel Complex parking lot).

Trees are available for any residents of Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck on a first-come, first-served basis. *The earlier you arrive, the higher chance you have of getting your desired species.*

Greening of Detroit staff will be available to help residents load tress into their vehicles (if needed) in addition to providing pamphlets about tree care and maintenance.
