Dewey Goes Pink and stays pink for the month of October!
Today is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

The Town of Dewey Beach, Delaware, and our community and business partners have led the way in raising awareness and money to fight breast cancer.
Throughout the month of October, officers are encouraged to wear pink undershirts with their uniforms and are issued pink breast cancer ribbon pins to display in support of the fight against breast cancer.

Today was the 15th Annual "Dewey Goes Pink- Gugie Run".
An incredible 5,000 Runners/Walkers signed up to participate and brave the wet, chilly October day.
It's always heart-wrenching to see families run in memory of those lost to breast cancer, and equally uplifting to see survivors run to mark their fight and recovery.
Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, and celebrated the successes.
All money raised is donated to the local Sussex County Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC).
The 14 year total for funds raised is $2,286,276!!

The Dewey Beach Police Department had a great time last night at Dagsboro Community Night, hosted by our public safety partners, the Dagsboro Police Department and the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department.

Lots to see and do, and we love the chance to connect with surrounding communities! The awesome thing about Delaware being so small is you always know people wherever you go!

We were excited to dig into the incredible BBQ chicken dinner plate and just had a fantastic time!

Dagsboro Police/Fire departments outdid themselves, and we look forward to next year! Thank you for the invitation and a great chance to strengthen our community partnerships!

Today, after 32 years of distinguished service to the citizens of Delaware, Chief Wayne Kline of the Delaware Natural Resources Police said farewell to friends and colleagues at his official "walk-out ceremony".

Chief Kline has always been a friend of the Dewey Beach Police Department and was one of the first Chiefs to welcome Chief Speake over three years ago.

Chief Speake remarked: "Chief Kline was an immediate resource for me, providing guidance, assistance, and friendship; he will be sorely missed by all of us."

Congratulations, Chief Kline, on a job well done. Thank you for your expertise and leadership. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement.
