Some of our officers traded in their usual duties for a little heavy lifting to help a local nonprofit, Ezekiel’s Closet, move some furniture into their new location!

We’re always happy to lend a helping hand to organizations that do so much for our community. Sometimes making a difference is as simple as showing up and pitching in.

There has been a recent string of vehicle burglaries in the area from Hickory Hills Drive to N. Locust Street. If you are a resident in the area, please take a few minutes to:

1. Check your vehicles (including the glove box, console, and any bags left inside)
2. Check your cameras / doorbell footage from the last several nights
3. If your vehicle was gone through, even if nothing was taken, please report it to the Dexter Police Department. Every report helps see the pattern and work the case.
4. Lock your vehicles and take valuables inside. A locked door is still the simplest thing that stops a lot of this.

DPD wants to remind everyone to remove their vehicles from Stoddard Street, today, Tuesday, September 22, 2026 by 4:30 P.M. for the Stoddard County Parade. We hope everyone enjoys the parade and stays safe!

The Dexter Police Department wants our community to be aware of Take It Down, a free service provided by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

If a n**e, partially n**e, or explicit image or video was taken of you when you were under 18 and has been shared online—or you’re worried it may be shared—Take It Down can help stop or limit its spread.

The service creates a unique digital fingerprint, called a hash, of the image or video directly from your device. The image itself does NOT leave your device, and you do not have to provide personal information. Participating online platforms can then use that fingerprint to identify copies and take action to remove or limit the content.

Parents, please consider talking with your children and teens about this resource. Young people may be afraid/embarrassed to tell someone when an intimate image has been shared, but there are resources available to help.

The Dexter Police Department responded to Dexter High School regarding a threat made toward another student.

Officers quickly made contact with all parties involved. Everyone is safe, and there is NO ACTIVE THREAT to Dexter High School, its students, or staff.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and want to reassure parents, students, and the community that the situation has been addressed.

Thank you to Stoddard County Sheriffs Office and the Missouri Highway Patrol for their assistance in this matter.
