Members of the Dickinson High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter attended the ND FBLA Fall Leadership Conference in Bismarck on October 4-5. Almost 500 FBLA high school and middle school members and advisers from across the state participated in this conference where the emphasis was on developing the leadership skills of local chapter members.
Members attending the conference had the opportunity to participate in sessions that focused on leadership development, personal finance, career exploration, and entrepreneurial stories including Ava Hauck from Dickinson High School. In addition, chapters had an opportunity to learn about state and national FBLA membership and recognition programs.
FBLA is a professional organization for students interested in pursuing business careers. This year’s theme “Where Leaders Begin” reflects the mission and goals that FBLA members strive to achieve. North Dakota FBLA members are some of the best and brightest of today’s young people. FBLA’s mission is to inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experience. Real training. Real skills. Real opportunities.

This week, our Firefighter I students put classroom learning into action during their first skills day of the year, working alongside the professionals of the Dickinson Fire Department.

For the past six years, Dickinson Fire Department has helped make this opportunity possible for students across Southwest North Dakota. Their vision and partnership have helped students explore firefighting careers while gaining hands-on experience, earning dual credit, and working toward firefighter certification.

We’re excited to see similar opportunities expand across North Dakota, and we’re proud that Dickinson Fire Department was among the first to bring this kind of training to all students across SW ND.

SWCTE is excited to host Western ND Demo Days today!

Students from across western and central North Dakota are joining us on campus for an incredible opportunity to connect with construction industry leaders, learn more about careers in the field, and most importantly, get hands-on experience operating equipment and learning directly from the professionals who use it every day.

A huge thank you to the North Dakota Construction Leadership Committee and Associated General Contractors for bringing this event together and investing in the next generation of North Dakota’s workforce.

At SWCTE, we are fortunate to provide hands-on learning opportunities like these to our students every day. Hosting Demo Days allows us to expand that experience beyond our normal footprint and welcome students from communities across the state to explore the tremendous career opportunities available in construction and the skilled trades.

Our Military Pathway is off to a great start!

Students recently traveled to the Dickinson Readiness Center for a hands on learning day that brought their classroom instruction to life.

We are incredibly proud of these seven Architecture II students for earning their AWI Industry Solutions credentials!

Thank you to Mrs. Lehman for recognizing the value of this opportunity and continually pushing our students to expand their skills, challenge themselves and pursue industry recognized credentials. Her dedication helps connect classroom learning to real career opportunities right here in our community.

From the classroom to an industry-recognized credential.

During the past school year, approximately 100 Construction Tech and Architecture students at the CTE Center for SW North Dakota were introduced to AWI Industry Solutions, giving students an inside look at the architectural woodwork industry and the skills that can lead to real career opportunities.

And seven Architecture 2 students took it a step further, passing the AWI IS test and earning their credentials! 👏

We are incredibly proud of these students and the continued success of our CDL program at SWCTE!

Thanks to the leadership, dedication, and extra effort of instructor Mr. Hays, these students have earned their unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver’s Licenses. This is an outstanding accomplishment that opens the door to valuable career opportunities.

Dickinson Public Schools would like to congratulate the 10 students who have successfully passed their Class A CDL test! Earning this industry-recognized credential while still in high school is an impressive accomplishment and reflects their hard work and dedication.

Through Southwest Area CTE Academy's Intro to CDL program, students gain real-world experience through classroom instruction, commercial driving simulators, hands-on vehicle operation, and supervised driving.

We are proud to celebrate these students and the opportunities SWCTE provides to help students build valuable skills, earn credentials, and prepare for careers beyond high school.
