Community Action Partnership is looking for an Education Coordinator to join our Head Start Preschool team!

If you’re passionate about early childhood education, enjoy supporting teachers, and want to make a difference in the lives of young children and their families, this could be the opportunity for you!

Requirements include:
✔️ Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent coursework
✔️ Two years of full-time preschool teaching experience
✔️ Previous supervisory experience
✔️ Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
✔️ Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
✔️ Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

You’ll help coordinate the education and disabilities components of our Head Start Preschool program, support and supervise education staff, oversee curriculum and child assessments, and help prepare children and families for kindergarten.

You’ll provide administrative and program support, including attendance and records, busing coordination, purchasing and supplies, USDA reimbursements, and general office support.

Sometimes a child isn’t “being difficult”.

They may be above their window of capacity: overwhelmed, angry, noisy, tearful, restless, unable to take in another word.

Or they may be below it: quiet, numb, shut down, exhausted, staring into space, saying “I don’t know” to everything.

Both can look like poor behaviour from the outside. But often, it’s a nervous system that has had too much.

In those moments, explanations, consequences and “calm down” can feel impossible to hear. Start smaller. Lower your voice. Reduce demands. Offer a drink, a snack, a familiar routine, a bit of movement, quiet company or space nearby.

The goal isn’t to make a child behave perfectly. It’s to help them feel safe enough to come back to themselves.

And if you’re a parent running on empty, this applies to you too. Nobody can cope well when their capacity is gone.

Dickinson families: We received word from BEK Consulting that they will begin paving the streets around the area of the Head Start Preschool and Early Head Start centers on Tuesday, September 8th. They will begin on 5th Ave SE and then move to 1st Street SE and 2nd Street SE. That is all the direction we have been provided.
Starting Tuesday, please take precaution when coming to drop off and pick up your child at either center. We may not know day by day, hour by hour even, what roads will be closed. But we will do our best to inform you when we hear/see more.

Hettinger County Head Start Preschool families: come join us for our Open House on Monday, August 24th, from 9am-12pm. You'll be able to come in and see the classroom to prepare for the first day of Preschool on Tuesday, August 25th.
