UPDATE: Dog Receives Veterinary Care Following Animal Welfare Investigation

The City of Dillon Police Department is pleased to provide a positive update regarding the dog that was recently seized as part of an ongoing animal welfare investigation.

Following the seizure, the dog was safely transported to the Dillon County Sheriff's Animal Protection Services, where he was provided with proper shelter, care, and medical attention.

The dog has since been examined and treated by a licensed veterinarian and was given a clean bill of health. Although he is doing well, the dog remains temporarily isolated from other animals to allow him additional time to heal and recover in a safe and controlled environment.

Chief Monroe Herring would like to extend his sincere appreciation to the officers of the City of Dillon Police Department and the Dillon County Sheriff's Office for their assistance and dedication throughout this incident. Chief Herring would also like to personally thank Dillon County Sheriff Jamie Hamilton and the dedicated staff of the Dillon County Sheriff's Animal Protection Services for their cooperation, compassion, and commitment to ensuring the animal received the care and attention he needed.

"This is a positive outcome for an animal whose condition raised significant concern throughout our community. I want to thank the officers from both the Dillon Police Department and the Dillon County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Jamie Hamilton, and the staff of Animal Protection Services for their efforts in bringing this situation to a positive resolution. Their professionalism, teamwork, and dedication to the welfare of this animal are greatly appreciated," stated Chief Herring.

The City of Dillon Police Department also appreciates the concern expressed by members of the public who helped bring attention to this situation.

While the dog is now safe and receiving appropriate care, the circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation by the City of Dillon Police Department.

Any determination regarding criminal charges will be based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.

Additional information will be released as the investigation permits.
