Can you believe our very first TeenTober is already almost over?

To celebrate, we are wrapping up the month with our Teen Halloween Party Wednesday, October 28, starting at 6:00 PM.

If you have a teen at home (ages 12–19), we would love to have them join us! Encourage them to bring a friend, too. We’ll have:
• Snacks and plenty of candy
• Trivia, music, and prizes
• A trophy for best costume, plus a special prize for best group costume! (Costumes are completely optional—coming as you are is wonderful, too.)

As long as the weather stays clear, we plan to be outside on the lawn, so please dress warm.

Back by popular demand! They had so much fun on Monday that everyone wanted another date on the calendar right away.

Join us for a cozy holiday edition of our Farmers Market Swap Meet on Monday, November 30th at 6:00 PM at the library. Bring your favorite homemade creations and leave with an armful of unique, handcrafted treasures just in time for the season.

Our last group brought an incredible spread—homemade granola, fresh pumpkin roll, handcrafted soaps, seasonings, magnets, and cute bracelets! Whether you love to bake, cook, preserve, or craft, there is a seat saved for you at the table.

How It Works:
•10 Participants: Capped at just 10 people so everyone gets to connect.
•10 Items: Bring 10 of your creations so each person walks away with one of each item.
•Anything Homemade: Breads, holiday cookies, canned jams, soup mixes, spice blends, candles, knit items, or woodwork!if you made it yourself, it belongs here!

With only 10 seats, spots fill quickly! Reserve yours here:

With October flying by, we wanted to share a quick update about our Lake Tobias Wildlife Park pass!

Their last day of the 2026 season is October 31. Because this pass has been so wonderful and popular this year, we currently have a long holds list.

If you are waiting in line and do not get a turn before October 31, please don’t worry! Your name stays right in its spot on the list for when the park reopens in spring 2027.

Just a quick reminder that the pass covers admission to the zoo exhibits (safari tour is separate).

Looking for an outing once the weather turns cool? We have passes to Hershey Gardens, The Hershey Story Children's Museum, Whitaker Center, and the PA Railroad Museum that can be checked out all year long! You can manage or pause your holds anytime at yorklibraries.org.

Thank you all so much for using and loving our collection! 🍁

🎉Please join us in celebrating Alex Hein Week at the Dillsburg Area Public Library!🎉

Becky Hein has dedicated this week, October 19 through October 25, 2026, in honor of Alex’s 16th birthday.

Alex has been such a wonderful volunteer around the library. Alex is the heart of our Coding Club. He is always patient and encouraging with the younger children, and inspiring them with the creative projects he builds. Whether he is helping run favorite events like Minecraft Night, jumping right into dino adventures, or tackling the heavy lifting to help create our fairy garden, Alex always shows up with a smile and a dependable work ethic.

On top of all that, he has been a wonderful help in getting our new teen programs off the ground. We are so grateful for his dedication, kindness, and maturity. Wishing you the happiest 16th birthday, Alex!

Interested in honoring a loved one, celebrating a milestone, or remembering a special occasion? With a $100 donation, you can name a week in their honor and directly support your hometown library. Stop by the front desk anytime to pick up a form and learn more.

Retirement should be a time to relax and enjoy life, but planning for the future can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Join us on Thursday, October 22 at 6:00 PM for an informative, straightforward presentation: Reducing Retirement Stress: Building a Plan You Can Rely On.

Local presenter Tim Eicholtz, Regional Vice President with Primerica, brings over 15 years of experience to help walk through the practical questions many of us face:
• Addressing the three major retirement risks and outliving savings
• Preparing for rising costs and market changes
• Organizing documents and affairs so your family knows where to find them
• Looking at your legacy beyond just a will

Whether you are preparing to retire soon or are already navigating retirement, this is a welcoming, easy-to-understand session focused on giving you peace of mind.

This program is free and open to everyone in our community. Stop by the library or give us a call if you have any questions!
