This year marks 15 years of PEEC participating in Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program as an Educational Improvement Organization (EIO)!

We’re on track to reach 1,133 students across Pike, Monroe, and Wayne Counties this year through STEM education programs and hands-on learning experiences. A huge thank you to our 2025-2026 EITC partners , , , , and for their generous support that makes these educational opportunities possible!

Maples and Dogwoods are some of the first trees to change color in the fall. Aspens and Birches typically change color mid-fall.

Chlorophyll gives the leaves their green color during the growing season and is absorbed by the trees as light and food become scarce, allowing the other (red, orange, purple) colors of the leaves to be seen.

PEEC Into the Classroom is coming to libraries across Lackawanna County this fall! Families can enjoy hands-on environmental education programs right at their local library. Be sure to check your library’s calendar for upcoming program dates and times throughout the season.

It was a perfect October day when over 600 visitors joined PEEC staff and volunteers for our Harvest Festival. With sunshine and temperatures in the mid 70's, a buzz of activity was seen campus-wide.

Guests enjoyed the hay wagon ride, music by The Martones, chili and cornbread at the Dining Hall, and the ever-popular live animal show.

Special thanks to D&S Hauling and for donations in support of our Harvest Festival.

Plan to join us in the spring for our annual Earth Day Festival! It’s another fun day of food, music, games, and more.
