Banned Books Week continues and today we are highlighting the top 11 books challenged in 2025. During 2025, 4,235 titles were challenged. Of those unique titles, data was separated into the top books challenged and you can see which books were challenged the most in 2025. The theme for Banned Books Week (October 4-10) is "Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read." The American Library Association (ALA) Office of Intellectual Freedom collects censorship information on books that are challenged. Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and it highlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools.
Banned Books Week promotes shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even if the ideas are unpopular. This information highlights censorship data collected by ALA for the year 2025. The data is broken down into informative categories including who challenges books and censorship trends.
During Banned Books Week. Tulare County Library branches will have banned book displays so be sure to check them out.

We had so much fun today learning how to paint our faces like sugar skulls. Thank you Ms. Lita Lakalaka for coming and guiding us through all the steps, and thank you to the Friends of the Dinuba Library for all of the supplies to make this event so successful!

Sticker and Button making this Friday!

Tweens and teens ages 8 and up are welcome to join us on Friday, October 9 at 4pm to make their own stickers and buttons! Materials will be provided.

Join Tulare County Library in celebrating the grand opening of the new Springville Branch Library on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 3 to 5 PM at 35697 Highway 190, Springville, California.

The grand opening features a ceremony with Tulare County Supervisor Dennis Townsend (District Five), representatives of the Springville Chamber of Commerce, County Librarian Darla Wegener, and others as we recount the road to bringing this new branch library in Springville.

Come tour the library, hear music from local band Occasional Brass, and make crafts with the Library’s staff.

And the winner of our first annual Oreo Twist Off is......Banana Pudding! It was a tough battle, but Banana Pudding pulled ahead and won the majority vote versus Classic Oreo! Congrats, Banana Pudding!!
