Today, we join our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honoring the courage, sacrifice, and service shown in the days that followed.

We will never forget.

Since it’s all the talk of Facebook this morning, here’s the camera footage of the horse trailer that was left in the middle of GA Hwy 133 last night. Our officers were on scene in less than two minutes. The owner returned less than an hour later and picked up the horse trailer and also picked up several citations. The horses were 100% fine.

This is a good reminder to check your trailers and follow all safety precautions when towing. This could have been SO much worse.

Welcome back to the annual tradition of hearing:

"I forgot my backpack."
"I can't find my shoes."
"I don't feel good."
"Do we HAVE to go?"

While all that chaos is happening, please slow down around schools and neighborhoods. Kids aren't always paying attention, so we need you to.

Welcome back, students! Have a safe and great school year.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“You Don’t Owe Strangers a Response”

The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind parents that June is Internet Safety Month.

With summer break underway and children spending more time online, we, along with our partners at ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children), want to remind families of the importance of internet safety. Take time to talk with your children about the dangers that can exist online and remind them not to interact with people they do not know.

A simple but important message for children is: You Don’t Owe Strangers a Response. Stranger danger still exists today—it has simply become easier for predators to reach children through the internet, social media, gaming platforms, and messaging apps.

Please help us keep our children safe by having open conversations about online safety and encouraging responsible internet use.

We are also sharing information about an upcoming public webinar on June 23 at 2:00 PM. The webinar will focus on video games and your child, discussing potential risks, warning signs, and red flags that parents should be aware of. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend if possible.

The registration link can be found directly above the attached flyer.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe. We hope everyone has a fun, safe, and happy summer!
