Another wonderful South Dakota Library Association Conference! This year our host city was Pierre, the State Capitol of South Dakota. A full three days filled with information, learning opportunities, collaborations and achievements! Our library is so thankful to all the people in SDLA who organize and run the conference along with the SDSL leadership! Big thank you to the Doland School, Doland Community Library Board and Doland City for giving our library the opportunity to attend this event. Now it’s time to sift through all the information and decide what services we can incorporate in our library! Our Library Director Natasha Noethlich (yep that’s me) also received her recertification for another three years. That means our little combination library is not only accredited but has a certified librarian on staff.

Wait a minute? Isn’t every day Library Day 🥳?! Thank you Governor Rhoden!

Governor Rhoden has declared October 1, 2026 as South Dakota Library Association Day 🥳

Our conference theme this year is "South Dakota Strong," and as we meet in Pierre for the SDLA Annual Conference today and tomorrow, we are reminded that libraries, library workers, and information access make our communities stronger.

🍎 It was an apple-filled morning at Tiny Tots! 🍎

Today we learned all about apples and celebrated Johnny Appleseed’s birthday! Our Tiny Tots especially loved our apple activities today —we measured our tots in apples & worked on fine motor skills by gluing tissue paper onto paper apples. 🍏🍎 There were lots of little hands learning, exploring, and having fun!

It’s hard to put into words the pure joy and fun that Tiny Tots brings. Watching these little ones learn, laugh, play, and experience new things together is just the sweetest. We are also so thankful to the adults attending who jump into action to help not only their little ones but the whole group. Tiny Tots has quickly become one of our very favorite hours of the week!

And even on the rainiest of days, it’s pure sunshine inside the library when our Tiny Tots are here. ☔️☀️

What a wonderful morning celebrating apples, Johnny Appleseed, and the simple joy of learning together! Enjoy way too many pictures, it was impossible to narrow them down to a handful!🍎❤️📚

The Doland PTO has been very generous and supportive of the Doland Community Library. They have donated to reading programs during the school year and summer too! They are also wonderful at supporting not only the students but the staff too. If you can help in any way, please do!

✨ WHAT DOES PTO ACTUALLY DO? ✨

A lot can happen behind the scenes throughout a school year!

Last year, PTO helped support:

🍎 Teachers and staff
🎓 Students and student activities
🔬 Science and STEM opportunities
🏃 Athletics
📚 Reading programs
🍕 Meals and special events
🎁 Staff appreciation
🎉 School and community events

From Spelling Bee Blizzards and track shirts to science fair pizza, Teacher Appreciation Week, Parent-Teacher Conference meals, STEM supplies, and much more—PTO was proud to support our school community throughout the year.

And here's the important part:

❤️ When you support PTO, you support ALL of this.

We're always looking for new members and volunteers to help us continue making great things happen!

🙋 There's a place for you in PTO.

Join us every Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Doland Community Library! Babies through 4-year-olds are welcome. We’d love to see you! 📚💕
