New Fields Corner library design reverts to basics – wood framing - Dorchester Reporter The construction site for the Fields Corner Library on Park Street and Dorchester Avenue reveals the glulams – engineered wood – that form the superstructure as a sustainable alternative to steel beams.

As 2024 winds down, we wanted to share some news. The Fields Corner Branch of the Boston Public Library is currently closed, and construction is expected to begin in early 2025. We will share progress updates as we have them.
The Fields Corner Librarians are available at Chill on Park on Tuesdays, from 1:00 to 5:00 for tech help, offering printing and a selection of Lucky Day books. They have also created a newsletter to share updates and event announcements

We are closing early tonight because our AC is not working. Pajama Storytime and the Friends Meeting are both cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience and as of now plan to open tomorrow (Wednesday 7/17) at 10:00 am.
Notice — the July 16 meeting of the Friends of the Fields Corner Branch, Boston Public Library is CANCELLED due to excessive heat in the building.

This month’s big news is that Ms. Cindy, our beloved children’s librarian, is retiring in July. The Friends are collecting reminiscences - please email us or message through FB with your message or story for Ms. Cindy. We also welcome photos and ideas for party activities. We’ll organize the photos and tributes into a keepsake book. Please mark your calendar to come to her farewell party (or stop by earlier that day if more convenient).
The Friends will not meet in June; our next meeting is July 16. We also plan to host an ice cream social later in the summer: stay tuned for details (and send us any ideas!).
Also: recent messages to our Friends who use Comcast email addresses have been rejected. If you are one of those Friends, we want to stay in touch!
