My Name is Octavia Murphy I was born and raised in Dothan, Al. I served in the military from 2011-2019. I am a Disabled Veteran, with a heart for the people of Dothan, Al. So many people are suffering from Mental illness and do not know it.

On May 29th from 4 – 6:30 p.m., I will be hosting a panel to open the conversation up pertaining to Mental Health. Panelists will speak on Traumatic events they have experienced & Mentally Muscled thru. The event will take place at Emerald Lake, also known as the Duck Pond, 1902 North Cherokee Avenue in Dothan.

The intended goal is to encourage the community to get the proper help needed, by showing togetherness. Breaking the stigma, ending the silence opening up the conversation, providing & sharing resources to promote a healthy Mental state. I do believe Mental Health is a community issue as well as healing. This is a kid friendly event with special giveaways and ending with a community prayer to start the summer.
