๐Ÿฅง A SWEET week of learning in 3rd Grade! ๐Ÿฅง

Our 3rd graders spent the week learning all about Authorโ€™s Purpose with our fun PIE theme! Students practiced identifying whether an authorโ€™s purpose was to Persuade, Inform, or Entertain through different activities each day! They completed task cards around the room, determined the authorโ€™s purpose of books from our classroom library, sorted examples into pie pans based on the authorโ€™s purpose, and even became authors themselves by writing paragraphs with a specific purpose in mind! โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

After a week of hard work and learning, students wrapped up PIE Week with an assessment and a delicious pie celebration! ๐Ÿฅง๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿ‘ Dothan City Schools is proud to announce that The Carver School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology has maintained its ranking as the No. 6 elementary school in Alabama, according to the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Elementary School rankings. Carver MST earned an overall score of 99.07 out of 100, once again receiving recognition as a U.S. News Best Elementary School for the 4th year in a row.

Carver MST has consistently ranked among Alabamaโ€™s top elementary schools over the past four years. Its U.S. News & World Report rankings include:

โ€ข 2027: No. 6 in Alabama
โ€ข 2026: No. 6 in Alabama
โ€ข 2025: No. 9 in Alabama
โ€ข 2024: No. 20 in Alabama

According to the U.S. News & World Report, 92% of Carver MST students scored at or above the proficient level in reading and 73% scored at or above the proficient level in mathematics.

Our 3rd grade mathematicians scrubbed in for Multiplication Surgery Day! ๐Ÿฅโœ‚๏ธ

Our math surgeons performed operations to save their patients by decomposing factors and using the distributive property to solve multiplication problems!
