The Double Oak Police Department joins the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office in mourning the loss of Deputy Adam Sherifi, who was killed in the line of duty. Our hearts are with his family and the entire Van Zandt County community during this time.

Please also keep the injured Canton Police Department officer in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers.

Rest in peace, Deputy Sherifi. We honor your service and sacrifice.

Today is National Police Woman Day and we’re proud to recognize the women who serve the Double Oak community with professionalism, dedication, and heart. 💙

Today, on Patriot Day and the 25th Anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, flags throughout Double Oak are lowered to half staff in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.

We honor the victims, first responders, and families whose lives were forever changed that day.

Twenty five years later, we remember their lives, their courage, and the unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

Today the Double Oak Police Department pauses to remember Sergeant Clint Murphy #140, who passed away on August 26, 2022.

Sgt. Murphy dedicated 27 years of his life to law enforcement including nearly eight years of service to the citizens of Double Oak.

His dedication, leadership, and service left a last impact on the Double Oak Police Department and on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Four years later, his memory remains with us. We remember. We honor. We will not forget.

The Double Oak Police Department extends our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Denton County Sheriff’s Office Communications Manager Robin Thomas.

Robin’s dedication, strength, and positive impact on the Denton County public safety community will not be forgotten. We join all our law enforcement partners in mourning her loss and keeping all who knew and loved her in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Communications Manager Robin Thomas.

Throughout her courageous and hard-fought battle with leukemia, Robin displayed remarkable strength, grace, resilience, and a profound love for life, inspiring all who knew her. We mourn her loss deeply and hold her memory close.

Our deepest sympathies are with her family, loved ones, and everyone whose life was enriched by knowing her. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts during this difficult time.

May we remember Robin not only for what she accomplished, but for the lives she touched and the lasting difference she made.
