25 years ago, this country experienced something we all promised to never forget. Today, we remember the victims of the 9/11 attacks, as well as the first responders who risked their lives to save others. May every life lost be remembered with love and honor. 🇺🇸

Douglas is going back to school TOMORROW! We have some important reminders to ensure traffic safety as we begin the 2026-2027 school year:

*Please remember to obey all crossing guards, traffic signals, and school zone speed limits.
*Only drop students off in the designated drop off areas- dropping kids off across the street can be an unnecessary risk for kids to cross traffic without supervision.
*Remember that all passengers need to be in an appropriate seat, as well as seating location, and using the proper safety restraint. Children need to remain in their seats and buckled in until the vehicle comes to a complete stop.
*School zones will be heavily patrolled and enforced.

We hope everyone has a safe and fun first day of school tomorrow!

On Friday, August 7th after more than 36 years of dedicated service to the Douglas Police Department: Interim Chief Todd Matthews retired. There are so many things we could say, and so many stories we could tell, but we will leave those for another time. We are so sad to see him go, but we wish him the best in his retirement.
