After two years of progress, the UD SABRE Center has reached another exciting milestone. I joined my colleagues, U.S. Senator Chris C***s, Rep. Mara Gorman, and Rep. Ed Osienski, as well as representatives from the University of Delaware for a ceremonial bill signing as we celebrate the progress of this project.

Once completed, this biomanufacturing and research facility will be instrumental to the next wave of STEM students at UD. I’m excited to see the ongoing construction of this center and look forward to the opportunities it will bring to the university.

ICYMI: Senator Bryan Townsend, Rep. Ed Osienski, Kim Williams State Representative, 19th District, and I penned a recent op-ed about our progress to protect and strengthen the rights of workers throughout the state of Delaware. From raising our minimum wage to $15, to implementing Paid Family and Medical Leave, we have been steadfast in our support of policies that protect workers and make life easier for working families in our State.

On Yom Kippur, we are reminded of the power of reflection, sacrifice, and the shared values we hold within our communities. As our Jewish friends and neighbors gather in prayer, I hope they find strength in faith and community within this day of fasting.

We broke ground on the Delaware Container Terminal, a historic investment that will transform the Edgemoor industrial site and unlock its potential as an economic driver for the entire State of Delaware. This project is decades in the making, creating thousands of good-paying, high-quality union jobs for Delawareans, and unleashing significant economic activity that will drive additional revenues to our State. From electricians to iron workers and other building trades, Delaware’s skilled union workforce will play a critical role in building this terminal. And ILA Local 1694 will be essential to the terminal’s success, providing skilled longshore workers who will ensure the efficiency of our Port’s operation.
