Kent County Levy Court was happy to join the Kent County Farm Bureau for its Annual Meeting & Banquet on September 28 at the Felton Fire Hall.

It was a great evening spent recognizing the people and families who contribute so much to agriculture in Kent County.

Congratulations to the Danny Palmer Family of T.A. Farms, named Farm Family of the Year; Representative Charles Postles, Jr., recognized for Distinguished Service to Agriculture; and Nathan and Mikayla Thompson, recipients of the Rising Star Award.

Representing Kent County Levy Court were Vice President Robert Scott, Commissioner Paul Hertz, Commissioner Terry Pepper, Commissioner Jody Sweeney, and County Administrator Kevin Sipple.

Thank you to the Kent County Farm Bureau for hosting such a nice evening and for continuing to recognize the individuals, families, and businesses who help keep agriculture such an important part of our community. Congratulations again to all of this year’s honorees!

WE WON! 🏆✨

Kent County Levy Court is absolutely thrilled to share that the County’s very own Brecknock Park has officially won "Best Place For A Quiet Stroll" in the Entertainment and Leisure category at the Daily State News' Stars Event! 🌳🚶‍♂️✨

Whether you are catching a peaceful morning walk, enjoying the beautiful trails, or just clearing your head under the trees, we are so proud that Brecknock Park holds such a special place in the hearts of our community members. This award belongs to all of Kent County!📸

Pictured celebrating at the event: Kevin Sipple (County Administrator), Jeremy Sheppard (Community Services Director), Jason Courtney (Parks Maintenance Supervisor), Mike Rigby (Community Services Assistant Director), and Jody Sweeney (Commissioner, 5th District).

A massive THANK YOU to our incredible Parks and Community Services teams who work tirelessly in every season to keep our parks clean, safe, and beautiful for everyone. And of course, thank you to you—our residents—for voting and loving our parks as much as we do! 💙

Downtown Dover just got its biggest headline yet!

🎉Please join us and the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce (CDCC) in giving a massive round of applause to the Daily State News and Bay to Bay News on their official ribbon-cutting ceremony!

Local news is the heartbeat of any thriving community, and having this incredible team right back in the center of our state capital—where the stories happen every single day—is a true homecoming. For over 70 years, they’ve kept us informed, inspired, and connected. Now, their new downtown chapter officially begins!

It was wonderful celebrating alongside local leaders like Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen, Kent County Commissioner At-Large Terry Pepper (not pictured), and Register of Wills D.J. Cox. Shoutout to Lorri Tanaka, who missed the photo op but was absolutely there in spirit helping us celebrate this milestone!

🙌Welcome back to the neighborhood! We can't wait to see how you continue to shape the narrative of Dover from your new home base.

On September 1, 2026, the Kent County Levy Court was proud to present Resolution #4177 to Erica Dennis and Joyce Warrington from POLYTECH Adult Education, officially proclaiming September 13–19, 2026, as Adult Education and Family Literacy Week in Kent County, Delaware!

Our Commissioners urge all citizens to recognize the vital role that adult education and family literacy play in building a stronger, more resilient community. When we support local initiatives, we invest in family-sustaining wages, brighter career pathways, and lifelong learner success.

Did you know? Delaware’s adult education network serves over 15,000 individuals and 140+ families annually. These programs unlock incredible opportunities across our community, resulting in an impressive $11+ return for every $1 invested back into our local economy.

We are incredibly fortunate to have outstanding community resources right here in our county, such as POLYTECH Adult Education, which works tirelessly to provide high school completion credentials, English language instruction, family literacy programs, and high-demand workforce training.

Join us in celebrating our incredible learners, educators, and local programs this week! These programs truly build skills, strengthen families, and create community-minded citizens.

Today, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless families forever changed. We honor the courage of first responders, the strength of survivors, and the unity that carried our nation forward in the days that followed.

May we continue to reflect, remember, and stand together in compassion and resolve.
We will never forget.
